Going Out
Sitting naked at the mirror,
you turn to me with almost a tear
pleading: I’ve nothing to wear,
your body dressed in hair
and the rings I gave you.
The Affair
He hates her early rising,
her writing and waiting for letters,
hates the postman,
fingering the wound in his door.
He hates her irresistible flesh.
Hates the hook in her heart,
the shifting weight of anger and desire.
He hates the scales in her eyes.
Menses
It is the moon draws women to the
sea,
claims the lunar tides of their bodies
and is, for some,
a barren reminder of what might have been.

Comments from other poets:
‘I love the water imagery that flows through
everything, the sadness that sometimes seeps in, and the unerring
sense of music. These are very fine poems.’
Lorna Crozier, Chair of the Writing Department, University of
Victoria
'…absolutely ravishing poems and some stunning visuals.’
Michael Dennis Browne, Professor of Creative Writing, University
of Minnesota
